Dear OPSA Parents/Guardians/Tutors,
We are currently in the process of opening the year-end Series A assessment and will start making the assessment gradually available on learners’ profiles from today.
Due to the large number of learners, it is not possible to register everyone and provide access on the same day. This process will take place over the next few days and we hope to have all registrations and access completed by the weekend.
We are deliberately handling this process carefully and systematically, because each learner’s registration, grade and assessment must be correct. At OPSA, every child works at his/her own pace and we want to make sure that every learner receives the correct assessment without the process being unnecessarily rushed.
If the assessment does not yet appear on your child’s profile today or tomorrow, this is not a reason for concern. Please allow us the next few days to complete the process.
The fact that the assessment appears on your child’s profile does not mean that you need to start immediately.
According to our suggested schedule, the assessment period only runs from 30 November 2026 to 11 December 2026.
You can view the full suggested OPSA schedule here:

There is therefore still more than enough time to continue calmly with the day-to-day programme, complete the term’s learning thoroughly, and allow enough time for revision before your child starts the assessment.
We are currently only at approximately Day 18 of the 40 teaching days for Term 4. There is therefore still important work that needs to be covered and consolidated.
Please do not feel that your child needs to start simply because the assessment is already available on the dashboard. It is far more important that the learning work is first completed thoroughly and understood.
The year-end assessment covers work from all four terms and is approximately structured as follows:
This means that Term 4 work makes up a large part of the assessment. Please do not rush through the day-to-day programme simply to start the assessment earlier.
For learners in Grade 3, Grade 6 and Grade 9, the year-end assessment is also the End-of-Phase Assessment.
This assessment covers the whole phase and is approximately structured as follows:
It is therefore important that learners do not only revise Term 4, but also revise the important knowledge and skills from the previous grades and terms in the phase.
We have made an assessment programme, revision overview and scope of work available for each phase.
These documents explain how the assessment is structured and provide an overview of the work your child should revise before starting the assessment.

Please remember that the scope of work does not replace the day-to-day programme. It is a tool to help you determine what should be focused on during revision.
At OPSA, our principle remains:
We assess to learn; we do not learn to assess.
An assessment is not only an end point or a mark on a report. It helps us determine what a child already understands, where there are still gaps, and what we should focus on next.
The process of learning, discovering, practising and growing remains the most important part of education. It is this process that equips our children with the knowledge, skills and confidence they will need in the future.
We know that this time of year can be stressful for many families. There is, however, no need to rush the assessment. Work calmly through the remaining learning material, allow enough time for revision, and only start the assessment when your child is ready.
We wish you and your child all the best for the final part of the year.
Closing thought:
“Stay calm, focus on the next step and keep moving forward. Success is not built in one big leap, but through small, consistent steps taken in the right direction every day.”
Kind regards,
OPSA Support Team
