Dear OPSA Parents/Guardians/Tutors,

We would like to keep you updated on the progress of the year-end Series A assessment.

We have decided to give ourselves approximately three more days to finalise and publish the new assessment thoroughly. We expect it to be available by Friday.

We realise that we had originally hoped to complete this sooner, and we sincerely thank you for your patience.

Why are we taking a few extra days?

We do not want to publish an assessment simply to meet a deadline. We want to make sure that it:

• is academically correct and relevant;
• provides a valid reflection of the knowledge and skills the learner should have mastered;
• is appropriate for the learner’s grade level;
• properly assesses the learner’s understanding and abilities;
• is fair and clearly structured; and
• provides the learner with a good and professional assessment experience.

We would therefore rather take a few extra days and do it carefully and properly than publish an assessment that we are not completely satisfied with.

At OPSA, our principle remains:

We assess to learn; we do not learn to assess.

The assessment should provide us with a reliable indication of what the learner already understands and where further revision, support or development may still be needed.

If your child would like to start before Friday

If your child is already ready and you do not want to wait until Friday, please feel free to contact us via WhatsApp.

We can then open the existing year-end assessment for your child. This assessment is still valid and can be used for the year-end assessment.

There is therefore no reason for concern if the new Series A assessment does not yet appear on your child’s dashboard.

Please use the extra few days to complete the remaining learning work calmly and revise any areas where your child may still be uncertain.
